The Link Project

The Link project is an exciting new development that comprises three distinct areas designed to serve the community: The Cafe, The Doctor's Surgery, and the Complementary Health Units.

The Cafe:

This welcoming space will offer a variety of food and beverages, creating a perfect spot for residents to relax and enjoy a meal or a coffee. The Cafe will feature comfortable seating, free Wi-Fi, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It will also host community events and activities, making it a central meeting place for people of all ages to connect and socialise.

The Doctor's Surgery:

This branch site of the existing Haddenham surgery will feature modern consulting rooms, allowing for more patient appointments and improved healthcare access for the community. Adjacent to the surgery, a small privacy orchard will be planted, providing a peaceful and serene environment for patients and staff to enjoy.

The Complementary Health Units:

These units will house a variety of holistic health services, such as acupuncture, physiotherapy, chiropractic care, and massage therapy. The aim is to promote overall well-being and offer alternative treatments that complement traditional medicine. Each unit will be equipped with the latest facilities and staffed by qualified practitioners, ensuring a diverse range of health services for the community.

In addition to these key areas, there will be one work unit available for rent to a local business. Applications for this unit will open soon and will be allocated on the same basis as the SWCLT houses, allowing local people to benefit from this opportunity.

The grounds of The Link will be beautifully landscaped, featuring a stunning courtyard that will serve as a central gathering space for visitors. The courtyard will be adorned with lush greenery, comfortable seating, and decorative elements, creating a serene and attractive environment. Additionally, ample parking will be provided to ensure easy access for all visitors.

The Link project aims to create a harmonious environment where the community can come together to enjoy health, wellness, and social activities in one convenient location.

Phase 4:

The most recent phase includes six houses allocated by SWCLT but owned by Hundred Houses. These homes, like the previous ones, are intended for local working people. This phase continues the commitment to supporting the community by providing housing that enables residents to stay in their local area.

The development of Manor Farm helps combat the issue of rising property prices that can make it difficult for local people to afford to stay in their hometown. By owning and managing these properties, the SWCLT ensures that the homes remain affordable and accessible to those who work in the area. This not only helps individuals and families but also strengthens the community by keeping long-term residents within the local economy and social fabric.

In addition to the housing, Manor Farm benefits from large green areas and many newly planted trees. These green spaces provide residents with beautiful, natural surroundings, enhancing their quality of life and promoting a sense of well-being. The newly planted trees also contribute to the environmental sustainability of the development, creating a more pleasant and healthier environment for the community.

Overall, Manor Farm has successfully created a range of housing options to support local working people, enabling them to maintain their ties to the area.

Manor Farm stands as a testament to the dedication of the SWCLT and Hundred Houses in addressing local housing needs, fostering a sense of community, and supporting the livelihoods of local residents.

Manor Farm, Stretham

Manor Farm in Stretham is a significant development aimed at providing housing for local working people, allowing them to remain in their local area instead of being priced out. This initiative addresses the rising property prices that often force residents to move away from their communities. By offering affordable housing options, Manor Farm ensures that local people can continue living and working in the area they call home.

Phases 1, 2 and 3:

These initial phases saw the construction of numerous houses, with the Stretham and Wilburton Community Land Trust (SWCLT) owning 23 of these homes. These SWCLT houses were built to high standards, ensuring quality living spaces for residents. Among these, four houses are shared ownership properties, offering an affordable option for local people to partially own their homes while still benefiting from community support.
